Arun Patel, 58, who owns a nearby shop, said the cyclist and the truck were waiting at the zebra crossing at the roundabout because of the traffic.
“She was on the left hand side,” he said. “The truck turned left and hit her and she got crushed by the railings. I don't know how he didn't see her.”
The woman cyclist who died in a collision with a lorry in Hackney yesterday morning (March 11) has been named as 28-year-old Shivon Watson from Bow.
She collided with a black and orange tipper truck on the Victoria Park Road roundabout, between the Lauriston Road and Victoria Park Road turnings, at around 8.30am yesterday (10 March).
She is thought to have been on her way to work at a charity in Hackney.
