A very sad case of cruelty to cyclists
The Waltham Forest Cycling Campaign, which has been going for twenty years, currently has 278 members. It holds regular monthly meetings at the Hornbeam Centre on Hoe Street E17, shown above. This hub of the local Green movement has lavish provision for those who arrive by bike, in the form of two Sheffield stands, which can be seen in the above photo.
When the two stands are in use, or obstructed by the Saturday fruit and veg stall, cyclists can cross to the other side of the road, where this street sign pole provides a valuable parking facility, as can be seen in this photograph taken on February 20th.
But look! Eight days later the pole has been wilfully removed by the Council's contractors.
This is cruel.
