Cycling campaigner run down and killed on A4 cycle path

Michael Fletcher, believed to be in his 50s, was killed after he was involved in a collision with a car on the A4 near the Great West Trading Estate last Wednesday afternoon. Mr Fletcher was a keen cyclist and campaigned for improved cycling facilities in the borough. It's since been confirmed by Hounslow's head of transport that the collision was between a car and the cyclist, and was on the cycle path.

Not exactly the first time this has happened on the A4 cycle path. For example

Mr Aman, 25, whose wife was pregnant with their second child when he was killed, was thrown clear from his bike and died instantly from multiple head injuries.Adam-Smith had been seen hitting four other vehicles and driving through a red light before driving into Mr Aman on the cycle path of the A4, west of London.
