Relax in beautiful downtown Walthamstow

Yesterday was World Book Day. And where better to curl up with a good book than this attractively situated metal bench in the car park at the end of Walthamstow High Street? Enjoy the vista of rows of parked cars and the back of a Turkish supermarket and breathe in the fragrant fumes from the traffic passing along Blackhorse Road behind you. Then toss any empties you may have in the special recycling area known as 'the bushes' and cross the road to admire the council's passionate commitment to books and reading, in the form of the shut-down St James Street library (below).
