Incredible But True

It’s a year since Shirley Leedham was run down and killed at a signalled crossing by a 4X4 driver who just drove on.

The family of a Kent pensioner killed by a hit-and-run driver on a pedestrian crossing have said they fear the person responsible will never be caught. An inquest into the death of Shirley Leedham, 70, on the A20 in Harrietsham last October heard numerous police appeals had failed to find the driver.

Since then, a brilliant suggestion from the local highway engineers:

A council report recommended increasing the limit, on the A20 at Harrietsham near Maidstone, from 40mph to 60mph.
