The Lea Bridge Road Experience

Cycling is on the up and up on Lea Bridge Road (aka the A104), a major route in and out of London, leading from Hackney to Snaresbrook, Wanstead, Woodford and beyond. Cycle counts taken over a 12 hours period showed a rise from 395 in 1998 to 677 in 2007.

And with infrastructure like this, who can doubt that by 2025 one in five Londoners will have taken up cycling?

Where do so many people get that irrational belief that cycling is dangerous and unpleasant from? Beats me. I cycle on Lea Bridge Road often.

And while I'd paused to take some snaps a lycra clad figure flashed past, just visible in the pic below. Yet more proof of how attractive and popular this route is.
