In terms of local Green activism, I suppose the Hornbeam Centre in Walthamstow is probably the Greenest place there is. It's where all kinds of environmental groups hold their meetings, including the Waltham Forest Cycling Campaign. And at the rear there's the Forest Recycling Project.
Yes, what could be nicer than this walking and cycling friendly location? It is lavishly supplied with two bike stands. What the pretty picture on the Hornbeam Centre website doesn't quite show is that the fruit and veg stall on a Saturday takes over those two Sheffield stands to be seen in the last pic below, rendering them unusable.
