SMIDSY driver free to go on driving

A CYCLIST was badly injured when a driver pulled out in front of him on a Droitwich roundabout.

Richard Evans, aged 24, of Oakleigh Road, Droitwich, admitted careless driving when he appeared before Worcester magistrates.

The cyclist claimed he was wearing fairly bright coloured clothes at the time, including leggings.

“He [the driver] can’t explain why he didn’t see the cyclist. He did indicate at one time that the sun might have been in his eyes.”

Evans, who had a full clean driving licence, represented himself and was asked by magistrates whether he had anything to say in his defence.

He said: “He hadn’t got those coloured leggings on.
