Westminster Council declares war on pedestrians

Traffic lights will be removed at busy junctions and some one-way streets will become two-way in an attempt to cut jams in central London.

Westminster council hopes to speed up traffic flow while making pedestrians more cautious when they cross.

Traffic lights to be removed at these junctions:

Ebury Street/Lower Belgrave St
Upper St Martin's Lane/Long Acre/Garrick Street/Great Newport Street
Belgrave Road/Gillingham Street
Berkeley Street/Hay Hill, Mayfair
Duke Street/Jermyn Street
Warwick Avenue/Blomfield Road
Mortimer Street/Great Titchfield Street
St George Street/Maddox Street, Mayfair
Acacia Road/Ordnance Hill in St John's Wood
Wells Street/Eastcastle Street in Fitzrovia
Regent Street/Jermyn Street

Also, two Toucan crossings to be removed in Birdcage Walk, by Wellington Barracks and Queen Anne's Gate.
