The death of Steven Ferguson

THE widow of a cyclist killed by a lorry which was missing its wing mirror has won a six-figure compensation award after a two-year legal battle. Father-of-three Steven Ferguson was killed instantly when he was hit by the HGV as they both pulled away from traffic lights in Dog Kennel Hill in Southwark in April 2007.

An inquest into the death of the 38-year-old teacher and marketing manager revealed how the vehicle had been missing its passenger-side mirror and how the driver had an open newspaper on the passenger seat next to him at the time of the accident.
