Cars, cars, cars

The London Cycle Network. A canyon of parked cars, where the cyclist has to share a narrow road with drivers who come far too close. You just aren't going to get masses of people cycling on roads like this. But it's a reality no one involved in promoting cycling really wants to face up to. Pembar Avenue E17.

And just round the corner, on Forest Road, there's this. A car showroom with 4X4s intruding over the footway and a blatantly obstructive advertising board. In the background there's another unlawful board on the pavement, as well as three motor vehicles in the cycle lane. Remember all those walking and cycling policy documents which poured from the Ken Livingstone administration? They weren't worth a hill of beans. The ones from Boris are worth considerably less.
