Porsche 911 driver kills Southend pedestrian

Shirley Watkins, 74, died at the scene when she collided with an old-model red Porsche 911 Carrera on the Southend-bound carriage way of Eastern Avenue.

The accident happened near to the junction with Bournemouth Park Road, where the victim lived, at about 1.30pm on Friday.

A 65-year-old man from Southend was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
