Get Knotted

Modelled on the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa, this overflowing litter bin is conveniently situated for the frisky rodents of Knotts Green. The bench provides the perfect spot to sit and watch as pedestrians attempt to cross Leyton Green Road at the nearby junction with Lea Bridge Road. Since there are no pedestrian lights, walkers have just two seconds to get across the road in between the red-light jumpers from two competing flows of fast moving traffic, one lane full of speeding drivers who don’t signal as they turn left from Lea Bridge Road into Leyton Green Road. Great fun. And obviously there can be no question of installing a pedestrian phase because, let’s face it, the convenience of drivers and cars is a much greater priority than pedestrian safety. This dangerous junction supplies a perfect instance of that universal truth.
Or you could turn your head in the other direction and scrutinise the hazardous cycle lanes.
