A driver evidently 'lost control' by a bend on the A112 (Chingford Road) and demolished this lighting column. Nothing in the local paper, and if the driver was protected by airbags and nobody was injured this is yet another crash that will never feature in 'road safety' statistics.
By the way, that white line shows how the Council has generously handed over most of the pavement for legalised pavement parking, which is only sensible as this is right by Sir George Monoux sixth form college, and we want to encourage young people to use cars from as early an age as possible, do we not? Besides, why would hundreds of students turning up to college on foot need a wide pavement?
