The new King Street cycleway from Sussex to Clarence streets has been shunned by many riders who are forced to stop at every cross street while cars get a green light run and then have to take off uphill from a standing start.

A University of NSW academic, Julie Hatfield, said this week there was insufficient data worldwide to determine the best way to incorporate cyclists into mainstream traffic.
