Taxi dependency at public expense

Staff also regularly claimed for taxis. On Friday, June 19, a Cameron staff member claimed £25.20 for a taxi from Clapham to meet the Tory leader in Westminster and travel to his Oxfordshire constituency.

The six-mile journey cost eight times more than public transport.

On Mr Cameron's expenses the cab fare was justified saying: "Taxi to meet David very early in morning to travel down to constituency."

But Transport for London says that journey can be completed in 45 minutes by 4.47am.
