Driver gets life for murdering a cyclist

A driver who 'used his car as a weapon' and murdered a cyclist in a revenge hit-and-run after the man accidentally clipped his wing mirror was today jailed for life. Sean Fitzgerald, 36, chased Paul Webb, 42, for 300 yards before he mounted the pavement and rammed him off his mountain bike.

He later rang his wife Becky, 39, while in custody on remand and said he was only 'sorry about his car'.

One fascinating revelation about this case is that this violent thug had been driving his whole life without a licence or insurance.

London’s roads are full of drivers like him – by one estimate, one driver in eight is uninsured - and the Metropolitan Police has almost no interest in catching them, even though camera technology makes this very easy.
