A MAN has been arrested after a woman taking part in a cycling time trial died following a collision with a car near Alcester last night.

The 27-year-old driver of the black Audi estate involved has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

An elderly cyclist has died in a collision in Northumberland.

The incident, which also involved a Ford Transit and a Mondeo, happened on the A189 Spine Road, just south of the North Seaton roundabout, at lunchtime.

A 22-year-old man has been was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

A cyclist who died after a collision with a van on a road in the Scottish Borders has been formally identified.

Darren Wight, 36, of Springwood Rise, Kelso, was killed as a result of the accident on the road between Roxburgh and Ormiston on Saturday evening.

A spokesman for Lothian and Borders Police said the matter was being treated as an accident and there were no charges pending.
