Cyclists enjoy roads paid for by heavily-taxed British motorists for free; we even pay for special cycle lanes for them. Many of them ignore the traffic regulations with impunity: cycle in pedestrian areas; cycle the wrong way in one way streets; jump red traffic lights.
It is time the system used in many European countries was made law here. Cyclists have to have third party insurance and pay a road tax. They are issued with a number plate that has to be displayed on the rear of their cycles.
