Jumping a red light and killing a cyclist is only ‘careless’

The Lancashire Evening Post reports how

Brian Creasey, 50, of Riverside, Clitheroe, pleaded guilty to causing death by careless driving after cyclist Ian Hammel was killed in the collision on the A59

adding that there was no suggestion he was speeding.

What the report omits to say is that this killer driver

ran a red light.

Isn’t that dangerous driving? Not by the sleazy car-centric standards of the British criminal injustice system. It’s only ‘careless driving’.
