Oil addiction news

Oil companies have been given the go-ahead to press on with the hunt for oil and gas in the deep waters off the coast of Britain despite the environmental disaster in the Gulf of Mexico.

Joss Garman, a Greenpeace energy campaigner, urged the new Government to
"use the Gulf of Mexico crisis as an opportunity to end our addiction to oil

a country that imports 10m barrels of oil a day to feed consumer addiction to cheap fuel which, at 40p per litre, is two-and-a-half times less than in the UK.
