Bike theft deters cycling

The factor that stops me and, doubtless, many others from cycling, is the inevitability of theft.

I would love to cycle — but after my last bike I was stolen within three days, despite my spending 60 per cent of its value on a lock, I decided another one wasn't worth the outlay.
