Another cyclist dies

A cyclist killed when her bike crashed with a van in Battle has been named as Joanne Bishop. The collision happened on the A271 North Trade Road, near Battle, about 35 yards west of the junction with Penhurst Lane on at 4.39pm on Friday.

Ms Bishop, 40, from Westerham in Kent, was taken to the Conquest Hospital in St Leonards where she died from her injuries a few hours later. The 58-year-old driver of the blue Ford Transit van, from St Leonards,
was uninjured.

“her bike crashed with a van” – or could it just possibly be the case that the van driver crashed into the cyclist?

Meanwhile in the same county:

A 38-year-old cyclist suffered a broken leg, facial injuries and bruising after his bike collided with a car on a by-pass. The crash happened on the A24 at Horsham at 9.45am on Monday, near the waterworks at Broadbridge Heath.

The driver of the other vehicle involved, a 59-year-old woman from Horsham, was not injured, but has been reported for careless or inconsiderate driving.

“after his bike collided with a car” – if that was the case the driver would not have been charged
