Noise pollution

People living in Borough High Street in south London were awoken at 1am by five workmen digging up the pavement with pneumatic drills for Thames Water mains replacement.

Oliver Watson, 34, a company director who lives above a bank, challenged the crew in the early hours last Thursday.

“The foreman said they had been granted a licence by Transport for London that allows them to work until 5am,” he said.
