Pensioner ran down cyclist and drove off
CHARGES have been laid against a pensioner involved in a road smash which left a mother lying at the gutter covered in blood. The man, 75, from Sedgefield, County Durham, is due to appear before magistrates in Consett next week charged with driving without due care and attention and failing to report an accident. Lisa Anderson, 42, was out cycling when she was involved in a collision with a Vauxhall Corsa at a road junction.
Lisa, from Spennymoor, said the motorist got out of his car, asked if she was all right, rubbed the back of her head and drove off. Lisa, a keen cyclist who can cover as much as 300 miles a week, was on her way to meet her husband and daughter, who were also out on their bikes.
